Positioning the Private Sector at the Forefront of National Development Agenda Through Congo2050 Business Council

Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo - In a bold move to position the private sector as a driving force behind national transformation, DRC Invest has officially launched the Congo2050 Business Council, a high-level membership body uniting leading enterprises, entrepreneurs, and investors committed to shaping the Democratic Republic of Congo's long-term economic future.
The Council serves as the private sector's voice and strategy table for economic modernization, peacebuilding, and industrialization, aligned with the Congo2050 strategic framework; a long-term vision to transform the DRC into a prosperous, self-reliant, and globally competitive economy by the year 2050.
"The Congo2050 Business Council is more than a membership body; it is a bold mechanism for business leaders to actively co-design policies, co-invest in infrastructure, and co-deliver outcomes that improve the lives of millions," said Ben Leyka, Chief Executive Officer of DRC Invest. "We are calling on the private sector to rise to the challenge and take its rightful place at the center of the DRC's development."
Amid rising security concerns in the eastern provinces and persistent economic instability, the Congo2050 Business Council presents a unique opportunity to strengthen business resilience, promote inclusive growth, and accelerate the recovery of key sectors including energy, agriculture, mining, telecommunications, logistics, and digital innovation.
The Council is open to companies of all sizes under three categories; Emerging Enterprises (small businesses), Scaling Enterprises (mid-sized firms) and Industry Leaders (large companies and multinationals). Each member will benefit from structured policy engagement, investment facilitation, strategic security collaboration, and access to market intelligence. Membership also offers an active role in shaping national and provincial development agendas.
