Old Mutual hires new impact investing professional

Old Mutual Alternative Investments has hired Denver Bruintjies as an impact investing professional working on the R7bn Financial Sector Charter fund. Bruintjies started at the beginning of January. 

Before joining, Bruintjies (pictured below) worked for a string of companies, including Sanlam Investments, the Industrial Development Corporation, Business Partners, JP Morgan, Citigroup, KPMG, and Absa.

Bruintjies reports to Greg Coe, who heads up the Financial Sector Charter fund. In his new role, Bruintjies will be responsible for managing existing investments and originating new investments in affordable housing and financial inclusion.

 
‘Denver is responsible for deal origination and asset management of rental housing (including student accommodation) and financial inclusion investments,’ according to his staff profile.

He has a degree in financial management, a master’s in development finance and a postgraduate diploma in development finance from the University of Stellenbosch. He is also registered as a chartered development finance analyst.

Bruintjies also has a South African Institute of Financial Markets qualification in regulations and ethics of South African financial markets. In addition, he has an investment management certificate from the CFA Society of the UK.
