South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP), the nation’s energy conference, returns to Juba for its 4th edition leading the future of investment and development in the country.

Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Petroleum and the Ministry of Energy and Dams, SSOP 2021 strives to increase capital investments in hydrocarbons, infrastructure, power generation and technology and firmly establishes the nation’s investment fundamentals post-COVID.

  • Date: 29-30 June 2021
  • Venue: Crown Hotel, Juba, South Sudan

SSOP’s 2021 theme is #InCountryValue and the conference aims to highlight South Sudan’s commitment to establishing a solid local content framework to build its domestic capacity and provide more opportunities to its citizens. South Sudan established, world-class petroleum producing region is reaching out to African partners to aid in updating and strengthening its domestic and local content policies.

A fair, balanced local content policy will guide the development of the hydrocarbon sector and ensure the natural resources of the country directly benefit the people of South Sudanese citizens. It is also critical for the continued development of the country’s economy that the oil and gas industry remains an attractive investment area for the international community. Amid a period of relative peace and stability, oil production is rising, operators are looking to further engage with communities and local companies, and power development is a key priority. This year will see the launch of the country’s first licensing round which, coupled with an attractive business environment, constitutes a pillar of the government’s goal to attract foreign investment.
