South Africa: Togo at the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in Durban promotes Made in Togo and young entrepreneurs

More than 10,000 attendees from across Africa are expected to attend the event with $ 40 billion in trade and investment deals expected to be concluded. Business networking opportunities to boost intra-African trade and investment. Almost 1,100 exhibitors present their products and services.

“The show will provide exhibitors with the opportunity to showcase goods and services, engage in business-to-business exchanges and conclude trade agreements. The IATF will provide a platform to discuss business by Africans and implement the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), ”said Olusegun Obasanjo, Former Nigerian President and Chairman of the IATF2021 Advisory Board at the opening.

Togo, whose business climate is improving considerably, is committed to promoting the private sector and particularly young entrepreneurs, is taking part in this African business event.

There are a total of 06 economic operators to exhibit around sixty local products.

For the Director of the Togolese Center for Exhibitions and Fairs (CETEF), Kuéku-Banka Johnson, the Commissioner General of Togo at the IATF, the participation of Togo has evolved positively compared to the first edition because the country does not have so much of local products like this edition.

"Today, we have practically more than sixty Made in Togo products from young Togolese entrepreneurs, especially in the agri-food sector. Togo's participation aims to promote local products, access the inter-African market and promote consumption, ”he said.

In the stands of Togo, we can see the influx of visitors who are interested in the various liquors produced by Togolese companies, coffee-cocoa powder and chocolates, teas and herbal teas in capsules, corn flour and cassava, dried fruits, shea butter, powdered spices, honey, coconut oils, compotes for babies ...

"What is to be hoped is to encourage the producers themselves to make the trip massively for the next editions. Today, it is the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Togo and the Togolese Center for Exhibitions and Fairs which mainly supervise these products. We must ensure that the means are found for economic operators, "said Kuéku-Banka Johnson, the Commissioner General of Togo at the IATF.

Organized by the African Import-Export Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union (AU) and the secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (Zlecaf), the African trade event aims to be a place of exchange ideas to improve trade on the continent.

The IATF2021 aims to encourage African youth to take the lead in innovation and acceleration of the entrepreneurial revolution, rapid development and the eradication of poverty and underdevelopment.
