The spokesman and deputy prosecutor-general at the Bizerte court of first instance, Saief Eddine Ayari, claimed that the Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered the detention of a train of Minister Industry in a corruption case involving the Tunisian steel company El Fouladh.

In a statement granted on 8 February 2024 to the Tunis Africa Press (Tap) agency, Seifeddine Abidi stated that the former minister was accused of having used his status to reach, or procure to a third party, an unjustified advantage that had caused harm to the administration.

He would be the former minister of Ennahdha Lamine Chakhari.

It should be noted that the President of the Republic, Kais Saed, on 26 December 2023, made a surprise visit to the headquarters of the company El Fouladh. At the same time, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has revealed that an investigation into suspected financial and administrative corruption within this institution has been established since November of the same year.
